The Junction City Blue Jay baseball team swept the Emporia Spartans in baseball 9-5 in eight innings and 13-4. The wins left Junction City 3-2 on the season.

Junction City used a big top of the eighth inning to put runs on the scoreboard, said Coach Carl Laughlin. "And then went out and shut them down in the bottom of the eighth. " The second game went the entire seven-inning distance.

Laughlin noted that a lot of players got to pitch and there were a lot of at-bats. It was the first doubleheader sweep of the season for Junction City.

The Blue Jays play Highland Park at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka on Friday.
