SW Kansas deputies found over a pound of meth

FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug charges.

Just before 7p.m. June 27, police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Taurus in the 1200 Block of Hattie Street in Garden City, according to a media release.

The traffic stop led to the Finney County Drug Task Force to serve a search warrant on the vehicle. During the investigation, officers located over a pound of meth and drug paraphernalia.  They also arrested the driver 30-year-old Vicente Martinez on requested charges of drug distribution, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, interference with law enforcement and an illegal registration, according to police.

Martinez has three previous convictions for aggravated battery, for criminal damage to property and drug possession, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
