Kan. teen accused of murder after shooting while 'hanging out'

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating  a fatal shooting that left 21-year-old Devin Bills of Wichita deceased have arrested 19-year-old Laquavion Bentley.

Just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic. Upon arrival, Officers located Bills unconscious and not breathing with two gunshot wounds to his upper body, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

Officers began life-saving measures. EMS pronounced Bills deceased on the scene.

The investigation revealed that Bills and several other people were outside the residence hanging out when a verbal argument ensued, and shots were fired. The suspect later identified as Bentley fled the scene in a vehicle.

He is being held on $600,000 bonds on requested charges of 2nd degree intentional murder, failure to comply and criminal possession of a firearm, according to online jail records.
