Soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, are returning to Fort Riley following a successful nine-month rotation to the Republic of Korea. The first group of Soldiers arrived on post earlier this month, with the remaining set to redeploy in large groups in the next few weeks. The entire battalion will return by late November.

The battalion is being replaced by the 4th Squadron (Heavy Attack Reconnaissance), 6th Cavalry Regiment, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade from Joint Base Lewis–McChord, Washington.

Several hundred Soldiers from the battalion departed for Korea in December and assumed the Korea rotational force mission as part of the United States’ commitment to maintaining peace and deterring aggression in northeast Asia.

When the battalion was not training, it also supported USFK in their COVID-19 response efforts. Soldiers from the battalion volunteered to do community for incoming soldiers, families, and civilians to the Korean Peninsula.
