WASHINGTON (AP) — Following two days honoring Bob Dole in Washington, an airplane with the casket carrying the body of the former Republican senator and presidential candidate arrived at Salina Regional Airport Friday night.
A public viewing of Dole’s casket and a memorial service are set for Saturday morning at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.
A private ceremony will follow on Saturday afternoon at the Statehouse in Topeka, with remarks by Governor Kelly and senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall.
Dole died Sunday at the age of 98 after announcing in February he had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He is to be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
