Pickup strikes, kills 6-year-old Kansas boy riding a bike

STANTON COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 7p.m. Tuesday in Stanton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Ford F150 driven by  Abigail Licon-Hernandez, 28, Johnson, was southbound on Elm Street in Johnson City.

The driver pulled to the left side of the roadway to talk to the owners at 103 N Elm Street from the drivers seat of the pickup.  When she left, she did not observe 6-year-old Matthew J. Pantoja of Johnson in front of the vehicle on a bike.

The drivers side front tire of the pickup struck the boy. EMS transported him to the Stanton County Hospital where he died. 

The KHP released no additional details.
