SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal hit and run accident and have identified the victim as 80-year-old James Kaminsky of Wichita.

Just after 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to an injury accident in the 1600 block of North Parkridge Street in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

Upon arrival, police located Kaminsky in the roadway with critical injuries.  EMS transported him to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The investigation revealed that Kaminsky was crossing the road to his residence and was struck by a white pick-up truck traveling south on North Parkridge.  The driver did not stop and fled from the scene.

A person of interest has been identified in the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.  Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
