Police ID Kan. woman who died in motel room murder

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating criminal homicide at a Wichita motel.

Just after 10 a.m.Thursday, police responded to a call of an unresponsive in a room at the Budget Motel in the 1300 block of South Broadway in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

 Officers located a woman later identified as 33-year-old Stephanie Duran of Wichita unresponsive and with injuries to her body.  She was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to Davidson.

A staff member of the motel located Duran in the room and called the police.

Investigators are  working to determine the circumstances of what occurred and have not reported an arrest.

This is the second homicide in Wichita over the past 24-hours.

Just after 10p.m. Thursday Marquell Nolan, 31, Wichita, died at local hospital after he was shot at a youth football game at Stryker Sports Complex, 2999 N Greenwich Road in Wichita. Police have not reported an arrest in this case.
