Kan. homeowner's camera caught women stealing packages

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects who were captured after prompt action by a citizen to notify the sheriff's department that a crime had just occurred.

On August 26, a homeowners surveillance camera caught a package theft at a home in the 2300 Block of SW Indian Trail, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Detectives were quickly able to identify suspects seen on the video taking the packages.  Deputies detained 35-year-old Chelsea Mullinix and 24-year-old Kelsey Sanstra both of Topeka for questioning.

Both were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit theft. Mullinix also faces multiple traffic violations.
