SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that sent a man to the hospital and have made an arrest.
Just before 6:30a.m. Friday, policemresponded to a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at SW 21st St. and SW Central Park Avenue in Topeka, according to Police Captain Jerry Monasmith.
First responders located a man who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. American Medical response transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested 35-year-old Marcus R. Mendoza of Topeka on requested charges of Fail to stop at accident; result in great bodily harm and Failure to exercise due care in regard to pedestrian.
