
KANSAS CITY —A Jackson County judge sentenced a Kansas City man to more than two decades in prison for a fatal shooting that took place last year, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.
Richard G. Harris, 37, was sentenced to 22 years in prison for 2nd Degree Murder. He pled guilty last month.
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 3200 E. Linwood Blvd. on June 17, 2024, and found a female victim lying in the grass suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She died in the hospital from the injury a few days later.
Surveillance footage captured the defendant hitting the victim, dragging her, and then shooting her.
