SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal weekend crash and fire.
Just before 11:30 p.m., Saturday, deputies were dispatched to an injury accident on K-96 and 215th Street West, according to Lt. Tim Myers.
At the scene, deputies found a grey Mazda 6 and a grey Honda Accord on fire.
A Maize Police Officer and a deputy attempted to extinguish the vehicle fires and extricate the drivers. Unfortunately, their efforts were not successful. Both drivers of the vehicles were pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Myers.
Investigators believe the Mazda was driving west in the eastbound lanes of K-96. Myers did not release the victim's names on Monday morning.
