Engine failure: Small plane forced to land in Kansas field

HARVEY COUNTY—A Kansas man avoided injury in a small plane mishap just after 1p.m. Thursday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1991 Robbins Wesley RV-4 Fixed Wing Aircraft piloted by Sidney O. Mead, 71, Wichita, was flying from Eisenhower Airport to Newton City County Airport when the engine failed and wound not restart.

The pilot landed the aircraft in a field, on its wheels, with no damage to the aircraft and no injury.
