
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating alleged animal cruelty and have made an arrest.
Just before 10:30a.m. August 6, 2020, a Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to the 5700 block of NW Hunter Road after a man reported a neighbor shot his 18-month-old Irish Setter, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The dog was seriously injured and was transported for treatment at K-State. The dog is now permanently blind.
Just after 4:30p.m. Tuesday deputies with the Fugitive Warrants unit arrested John C. Stover, 58, of Topeka, on requested felony charges of cruelty to animals.
The case has been forwarded to the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office
