KANSAS CITY —A man critically injured in a knife attack has died and the suspect has been charged for the crime.
Just after 8a.m. June 2, police were dispatched to the 7000 block of Prospect Avenue on a reported knife attack, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
First responders located a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Responding officers were able to identify, locate, and apprehend a suspect on scene and he was placed on a 24 hour investigative hold for further investigation.
Detectives presented their findings to the Jackson County Prosecutors office where he was subsequently charged in custody.
On Tuesday, prosecutors were notified the victim died of his injuries. After police presented their findings to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Ronald E. Moore was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
According to court records filed soon after the June 2 incident, responding officers saw the suspect at the scene with blood on his clothing and he had a laceration to his left hand. The suspect, according to witnesses, attacked the victim with a knife without argument or any words exchanged. The charges will be reviewed in light of the victim's death. Police have not released the name of the victim.
