SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two deaths at an unhoused encampment in Sedgwick County.

Just after 8a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to an overdose call in the 2900 hundred block of South Washington in Wichita, according to Officer Chad Ditch.

First responders found the body of a 20-year-old woman identified as Stevie Metts and a 35-year-old man, both of Wichita unresponsive and unconscious. They were pronounced deceased on the scene.

A 25-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were also located nearby unresponsive and unconscious.  EMS transported them to a local hospital in grave condition, according to Ditch.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stages, however, police believe this to be a case of fentanyl poisoning.
