MCPHERSON — As part of the city of McPherson's 150th anniversary celebration, they are having a time capsule unveiling event from both the city centennial and the nation's bicentennial time capsules.
However, officials have found some damage to one of the capsules. According to the McPherson Fire Department, they located all the time capsules in water and immediately began extricating the capsules.
Only the Centennial Time Capsule contained water, so staff began draining water and removing the contents. Members worked through the late evening trying to save what could be saved. Those items that were saved have serious water damage.
The time capsule reveal event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the McPherson Fire Station.
