ATCHISON —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and have a suspect in custody.
Just after 9:30a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a shooting that had occurred in the 300 block Santa Fe in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.
Investigators learned the shooting occurred at an exterior doorway to an apartment complex. EMS transported a 36-year-old male victim to the hospital for treatment of a a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police also took a 61-year-old suspect into custody, according to Wilson. Billy Hazelton is being held without bond on a requested charge of aggravated battery; knowingly causing physical contact with a deadly weapon, according to online jail records.
