Sheriff: Deputies catch Kan. felon transporting drugs

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just before 11p.m. Wednesday, A sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle near 150th and U.S. 75 Highway Wednesday for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Deputies arrested the driver identified as Lonnie Gene Banks Jr., 58, Topeka, and booked him into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, trafficking contraband into a correctional facility, possession of drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container, according to Morse.
