SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a 6-year-old girl have made an arrest.

Just after 9:00 pm. on May 7, police in the 100 Block S. Mt. Carmel reported hearing several gunshots nearby, according to Officer Kris Guplian

Officers located a crime scene and found the 6-year-old victim with non-life-threatening injuries. EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment.

The investigation revealed a maroon color vehicle drove by and fired several rounds at the residence. The victim was struck with shrapnel in her right arm while inside the residence.  

Police identified a suspect and arrested 29-year-old Nicholas Henry of Wichita, according to Officer Chad Ditch.  He was charged in District Court Friday on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault, violation of a protection order, domestic battery, criminal discharge of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, a probation violation, according to online jail records. He has three previous convictions for domestic battery and two for criminal threat, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
