SUMNER COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a shooting during a fight in Sumner County.
On May 24, police in Conway Springs were made aware of a shooting incident that had occurred in the early morning hours within the city limits of Conway Springs, according to a media release.
One subject had gone to the emergency room at Wesley in west Wichita with a single gunshot wound to their upper back. They were treated and released.
Through the investigation it was learned an altercation had occurred between two men involving both a golf club and a firearm.
During the altercation, one of the subjects was shot. The Conway Springs Police Department along with the Sumner County Sheriff’s office located the shooting scene where the firearm and other relevant evidence was recovered. A criminal investigation was conducted, and charges are being sent to the Sumner County District Attorney’s office for review, according to Police Chief Mitchell Nedrow
