NEOSHO COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 8a.m. Thursday in Neosho County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Nissan Kicks driven by Janee M. Umbarger, 55, Chanute, was northbound on U.S. 169 just north of 70th Road. The SUV and a southbound 2009 GMC Sierra driven by Carrol E. Clark, 76, Piqua, collided near the center of the roadway.
Umbarger was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Countryside Funeral Home. EMS transported Clark to Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Clark was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
