KANSAS CITY —Police are conducting a fatal shooting investigation in the during a reported home burglary.
Early Friday, police were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a home in the 100 block of Little Garden in the Kansas City suburb of Blue Springs, according to a media release. A homeowner called 911 and stated that an individual had unlawfully entered the residence.
Before officers arrived on scene, the homeowner shot the reported suspect. The individual, later identified as 18-year-old Tristan Barker, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives remain on scene conducting their investigation. This remains an active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
