KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man decided to avoid trial and plead guilty to child sex crimes.
Bomani Madu, 50, was scheduled for trial to face multiple child sex crime charges, according to Jackson County District Attorney Jean Peters Baker.
On August 10, Madu was sentenced to 12 years in state prison on five felony counts related to sexual contact with a child: Second-degree statutory sodomy, endangering the welfare of a child, sexual misconduct involving a child, and two counts of child molestations.
Charging documents in the case say the charges stem from an incident that happened in September 2021.
