Police: Kansas felon used gun during store robbery

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a robbery and have a suspect in custody.

 Just before 9:30 p.m. Aug. 15,  police responded to report of a theft at the Dollar General Store, 2515 SE 6th Street in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Michael Hren.

As the suspect was leaving, he allegedly pointed a firearm at an employee in the store parking lot.

Officers located the suspect vehicle nearby and a suspect identified as 26-year-old Antonio V. Arreola was apprehended and transported to police headquarters.

Arreola is being held on requested charges of Aggravated Assault, Theft and Felony Interference and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, according to online jail records.  He has previous convictions for theft, robbery, obstruction, interference with law enforcement and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
