SHAWNEE COUNTY —On Tuesday, the Shawnee County Sheriff's office confimed that woman who died in an accident just before 11:30a.m. Friday in Shawnee County was a Kansas resident.
According to Shawnee County Deputy Abigail Christian, a trash truck was northbound on SW Auburn Road when a westbound white SUV driven by Carol M. Purcell, 77, Paxico, pulled onto the roadway. The trash truck and the SUV collided.
Purcell and a passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Purcell later died. The driver of the trash truck sustained minor injuries.
SW Auburn Road was temporarily closed at SW 21st Street during the investigation.
