The University of Kansas has hired Northwestern administrator Travis Goff to be its next athletic director during a crucial moment for its football program and high-profile men’s basketball program. A Sunflower State native who graduated from KU, Goff has been been at Northwestern since 2012. He most recently was deputy athletic director and assistant vice president for development. He played a role in fundraising that led to massive facilities upgrades at Northwestern.

Kansas has been searching for an athletic director since Jeff Long resigned almost a month ago. He was criticized for his hiring of longtime friend and football coach Les Miles, who parted ways with Kansas amid allegations of sexual misconduct.
