BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just after 6p.m. Wednesday, a police officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2400 block of Main Street in Great Bend for expired registration, according to a media release.

The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as Nathan Manley, age 47. During the officers investigation, it was determined Manley did not have a valid driver’s license, the vehicle did not have insurance and the registration expired two years prior.

K9 Menta did a free air sniff of the vehicle. Menta indicated to the odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle produced methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Manley was placed under arrest and transported to the Barton County Jail where he was booked. Manley has previous convictions for theft, burglary and drugs, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
