SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Sedgwick County Jail.
Just after 6a.m. on September 15, an inmate, who repeatedly engaged in self-injurious behavior and refused to cooperate with medical care died, according to Sheriff's Captain Keith Allen. The inmate identified as 44-year-old Marcello Ibarra, according to online jail records, had been hospitalized a total of 18 times since his arrest August 15, 2021.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Investigations Division and the Kansas Bureau of Investigations (K.B.I.) were contacted. Ibarra was transported to the Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office.
Ibarra was jailed on felony charge of Murder in the 2nd Degree, Aggravated Assault, Fugitive from Justice and a hold for Immigration
