Officials have released information showing another increase in COVID-19 positive cases in Riley County.

The Riley County Health Department (RCHD) has received notice of at least 28 new positive cases since Wednesday's report.

The total for the county is now 184, with 109 active cases. The majority of the new positive patients continue to be in the 18-24 age range.

”It has become necessary to increase our response,” said Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs. “The Emergency Operations Center is working to add contact tracing staff, reorganize current staff, and address the increased testing demands at the Swabbing Station. We plan to have these new measures in place next week.”

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has declared four locations in Riley County as areas of outbreak: Aggieville, the Kansas State University Football Team, and now Rock A Belly Bar and Deli and 785 Bar, both within the Aggieville District. An outbreak occurs when five or more cases stem from one place and time.
