
SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man recently released from prison on new charges after an arrest.
Just before 3a.m. Friday, deputies responding to a report of someone trying to get into a rural Saline County residence when they received a call of another burglary in Assaria, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan.
A homeowner in the 300 block of East Kansas Street heard a noise in his garage. When the homeowner checked, he found Michael Sledd, 29, of Assaria, going through his vehicle.
The homeowner kept Sledd in the garage until deputies arrived, he added.
When deputies arrived, Sledd moved as if he was going to run, but the homeowner pushed him back, according to Soldan .
The pushed prompted a fight, during which, a deputy sprained a thumb. The fight ended when deputies used a Taser on Sledd.
Sledd appeared to be under the influence of drugs and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) for observation, according to Soldan.
After treatment, he will be taken to the Saline County Jail and booked on requested charges that include Aggravated burglary, Battery of a law enforcement officer and Criminal trespass
