JOHNSON COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just before 11:30p.m. Saturday in Johnson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by Jose M. Placensia Castaneda, 17, Lenexa, was southbound on U.S. 69 near 58th Street. The car crossed the raised median, entered the northbound lanes and struck a northbound 2015 Kia Optima driven by Victoria A. Jones, 44, Kansas City, Missouri, head-on.
Castaneda and a passenger in the Toyota Itzel Guerra, 18, Overland Park were pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Jones and a passenger Germara D. Guillory, 41, Kansas City, Missouri, to KU Medical Center. Castaneda and Guerra were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
