Kan. man jailed for allegedly setting air conditioner on fire

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fire and have made an arrest.

Just after 10a.m. Sunday, fire crews responded to 1118 NE Seward Avenue in Topeka, according to Deputy Fire Chief Kelly Adams.

Upon arrival crews found a fire behind the commercial structure that had self extinguished.  Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set and caused over $1,500.00 damage to an air conditioning unit, according to Adams.

Investigators identified a suspect and police arrested 59-year-old Jesus Labrador on requested charges of arson.

There were no injuries.
