
OSAGE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a registered Kansas sex offender on multiple charges after a traffic stop.
Just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a sheriff's deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on K-68 Highway near the K-268 Highway junction in Osage County for a traffic violation, according to a media release.
The vehicle failed to yield, and a brief pursuit was initiated. The vehicle came to a stop at K-68 Highway and Arkansas Road in Franklin County.
The driver of the vehicle, Jason M. Fox, 40, of Vassar, was taken into custody and transported to the Osage County Jail Facility on requested charges of flee/elude law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while a habitual violator, driving while license is suspended, and several traffic infractions.
Fox has previous convictions that include forgery, Attempted Furnishing of Cereal Malt Beverage/Minor and Aggravated Sexual Battery. He has been registered as a sex offender since 2005, according to the KBI registry.
