BROOKVILLE - A mobile home was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning in Saline County.
Just after 1a.m., deputies and firefighters from Rural Fire District No. 3 were sent to 126 East Anderson Street in Brookville for report of a mobile home fire, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan.
The residents, John Goracke, 59, and Brenda Freeman, 52, had been burning something in their wood-burning stove and threw in some paper towels, according to Soldan. It is believed that the ashes from the paper towels blew onto the roof and set the mobile home ablaze.
$3,000 worth of damage was done to items in the residence. Authorities did not have a loss estimate for the mobile home early Tuesday.
