Man airlifted to hospital, Russell police search for shooting suspect

RUSSELL COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and asking for help to locate a suspect.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to the shooting call in the 1300 block of North Fossil Street in Russell, according to a media release. 

First responders found a 45-year-old man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. EMS transported the victim to Russel Regional Hospital, He was later airlifted to a trauma center in Wichita.

Police are attempting to locate a suspect identified as 47-year-old Shane Slack. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-11, 160 pounds with blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing black jeans, black shirt, and a leather vest with patches and possibly driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma bearing Kansas 725 RMV.

Slack is believed to be armed and dangerous.  If you see him please do not approach and call 911.
