
MIAMI COUNTY —A driver avoided serious injuries after an accident on a wet highway in northeast Kansas.
On Tuesday, sheriff's deputies were called to the area of 169 Highway and 255th Street in Miami County for a vehicle in high water, according to a media release.
With the assistance of Miami County EMS and Fire District #1 Of Johnson County, the driver was rescued from the vehicle. At the time of the incident the water was up to the doors and the driver was unable to exit safely.
The vehicle was in a ravine on the east side of U.S. 169 highway. Once the driver of the vehicle was assisted out of the vehicle, they were assessed for minor injuries on scene by Miami County EMS. The driver did not sustain any serious injuries.
The sheriff's department told drivers to remember to make sure that your vehicles equipment, headlights, wipers, and tires are properly maintained, working properly and slow your speeds during rain.
