KANSAS CITY— One person is in custody after they were found with a handgun inside a Kansas City area elementary school.
Just before 9 a.m. Thursday, police responded to Sunny Pointe Elementary School, 3920 S/NW R.D. Mize Road, Blue Springs on a reported person armed with a gun entering the building, according to a media release from Independence Police.
Officers found a man sitting inside the main office of the school and he had with a handgun. Police took him into custody.
There was no disturbance and no threats made to the school. Police did not release the man's name or what charges he will face.
