Police: Kan. woman walked into coffee shop, demanded money

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a business robbery and have made an arrest.

Just after 2:30p.m. January 19, police responded to the report of a robbery at Milk and Honey Coffee Co. located at 2200 SE 29th Street, according to Police Lt. Ronnie Connell.

It was reported that a woman walked into the business and demanded money. Responding officers quickly located the vehicle believed to be involved and detained two occupants.

On Saturday, police arrested 21-year-old  Julia Mendez of Topeka and booked her into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated assault, Criminal Restraint, Vehicle registration violation, Displaying a plate not assigned to the vehicle, Driving while license is suspended, Vehicle liability insurance required  and a warrant.
