KANSAS CITY—Authorities are investigating the cause of a deadly fire on Tuesday in Kansas City.

Just after 9a.m., crews responded to the report of a fire in the 3300 block of Oakland Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.

Crews were alerted by other residents of a child trapped in the home. Offensive interior operations were initiated, and crews quickly found the child and removed him from the fire.

EMS transported the 4-year-old to Children's Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  As a precaution, EMS transported the other occupants, two adults and three children to KU Medical Center for evaluation. Officials released no additional details.
