BUTLER COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal crash that occurred just before 2:30a.m. Sunday in Butler County released new details.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol Technical Trooper Wesley Gilmore, a 2001 Ford Fusion driven by Luke T. Hargadine, 35, Wichita, was southbound on U.S. 77 just inside the city limits of El Dorado at a high rate of speed.
The car traveled left of center and stuck a 2011 Jeep Liberty driven by 48-year-old Jill N. Winn, head-on in the northbound lane.
Hargadine was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Winn and a passenger 76-year-old Edward McLaughlin to Wesley Medical Center. Winn was reported in critical condition, according to the KHP.
The KHP released no new details Tuesday afternoon.
