KBI: Human remains found in rural Kansas; signs of foul play

SUMNER COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a death investigation after human remains were found in rural Sumner County, Kansas, according to a media release from the KBI.

On May 10, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 358 N. River Road, in Belle Plaine, after a body was discovered.

The remains were transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center for an autopsy. The autopsy was performed Saturday, and signs of foul play were observed by the coroner.

At this time, the identity of the deceased male is unknown. The KBI and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office are still working to positively identify him.
