1st Great Kansas Fishing Derby

Posted May 09, 2021 1:17 AM

From now until July 31 the Great Kansas Fishing Derby is under way. According to the Geary County Fish & Game Association at least 500 tagged fish have been been placed in selected Kansas public water bodies. Pre-registration is not required and participation is free.

Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks and Tourism coordinated the fishing derby. All participants must have a valid fishing license to redeem tags, unless you are exempt from the license regulation.  Anglers who catch a tagged fish must register the tag.  A follow-up communication will notify the angler of what they've won and where to claim the prize.

Anyone can also register to win additional prizes through weekly drawings. For more information and to access the map showing where tagged fish have been placed (hint: Geary State Fishing Lake is one!) go to www.ksfishderby.com
