COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas sex offender on new child sex allegations after an arrest.

Earlier this month, police in Arkansas City received a report of a possible sexual assault involving 43-year-old Loarn Earl Fitzgerald and two Ark City girls, aged 11 and 13 years old, according to a media release May 21.

Police began investigating and made contact with both of the alleged victims, as well as witnesses. Several sexual assaults, taking place within the last 10 months, were reported to officers. Through the course of the investigation, probable cause was determined to arrest Fitzgerald.

On May 13, police located and Fitzgerald without incident.

He remains in custody on requested charges of aggravated criminal sodomy and for the rape of a child, according to the release. He is in the Cowley County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
