
SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide in Saline County.
Just before 6p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a residence at 554 West Parsons Road in rural Saline County for a welfare check, according to a media release from the sheriff's office.
Responding deputies found the body of 50-year-old Laurie Likins and two dead dogs in the residence. They died of apparent gunshot wounds, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan. Deputies took 55-year-old Brent Allen Spainhour into custody at the scene.
Brent Allen Spainhour has been booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of Murder in the First Degree and Cruelty to Animals. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Response Team has been called in to assist with this investigation.
