Police: Kan. man arrested after he allegedly hit woman with SUV

SALINE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man after a weekend altercation in Salina.

Just after 3 a.m. Saturday a witness told police Joseph Campbell, 35, Salina, drove a 2001 Ford Excursion into the parking lot of The Blind Pig, 2051 Market Place in Salina, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Campbell then exchanged words with a 38-year-old woman and then allegedly slapped the woman in the face and drove off, striking her with the vehicle, according Forrester.

The woman who allegedly was struck could not remember what happened and suffered a swollen right eye, severe road rash on her right knee, severe bruising and lacerations below her left knee, and a swollen left ankle, according to Forrester. EMS transported her to Salina Regional Health Center.

Officers located the Excursion in front of Campbell’s residence in the 1300 block of Gypsum in Salina. They also found a baggie of marijuana on the front seat of the vehicle, according to Forrester.

Officers arrested Campbell was arrested on requested charges of Aggravated battery, Possession of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia
