SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement investigating a fatal accident that just before 8:30a.m. Sunday in Sedgwick County have identified the woman who died as 62-yeara-old Juanita Garduno, according to Wichita Police spokesman Brad Wright.
A preliminary investigation indicates, a black Cadillac was northbound on Market Street in Wichita and a blue Jeep was westbound on 17th Street when they collided, according to Wichita Police spokesman Andrew Ford. After impact, the Jeep continued on 17th, crossed Broadway, and came to rest in the 300 block of West 17th Street.
A 6-year-old and Juanita Garduno were ejected from the Jeep and transported to the hospital along with the driver and front passenger. Garduno. was pronounced deceased.
The Cadillac’s driver was also transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. Investigators are examining impairment by that driver as a possible contributing factor.
