SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating the reported overdose of a 1-year-old boy at a Kansas home.
Just after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to an assist EMS call in the 2000 block of N. Market, in Wichita, according to Officer Trevor Macy.
A 911 caller reported an unresponsive infant at a residence at that location. EMS arrived and transported the child to an area hospital in critical condition.
Investigators learned that the infant had ingested a pill that had fallen on the floor of the home. Tests are ongoing to determine the contents of the pill. The child was admitted to a hospital and placed in Police Protective Custody. The child is expected to survive.
