Sheriff: Kan. woman was asleep at wheel, parked on highway

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on drug charges after a unique traffic stop.

Just after 4:30a.m. Monday,  the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a truck parked in the middle of Highway 16 near W. Road. Deputies found the truck running, parked in the middle of the highway and a woman later identified as Marcy Jean Bowen, 37, McLouth, asleep behind the steering wheel, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The deputies also discovered drug a substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies arrested Bowen and booked her into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and two misdemeanor drug charges.
