KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just after 1a.m. Sunday in Kansas City, Missouri.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a dark gray Toyota sedan was eastbound on 51st Street and approached a red traffic signal at Wornal but failed to stop, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
At the same time, a gray Ford Explorer was northbound on Wornall Road at a high rate of speed and collided with the Toyota.
EMS transported two adults and four juveniles to area hospitals for treatment. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased a short time later by medical personnel. The driver of the Ford Explorer is currently under investigation for driving under the influence, according to DiMartino. Police did not release the name of the driver who died or additional details.
